NEW MUSIC WORTH CHECKING OUT
Not a mind blowing album first listen but second listen it started growing on me. Check it out let me know what you think? I dig the song "The Canyon" the most so far...
Julian Casablanca's (From The Strokes) is the front man of The Voidz. This is a fun album. The same buddy who convinced me to go see The Strokes with him (the day after their first TV Appearance) told me to check this out. I am glad I did and so should you. (If you give a shit that is.)
For the amount of times that I have listened to this album already I can bet that this will be on my years end top 20 favorite albums list. Gloomy, Catchy, Dark... Fun.... Can't wait to see them in Dallas on this years tour!
Favorite Country album of the year as well as top 10 favorite album of every category! Great lyrics and haunting voice! Very hard working yet great guy! I saw him play about 7 minutes from my house and I don't even have internet available there! Was into him so much saw him in Little Rock the next day!
Relatives in Decent was my personal favorite album of 2017. With songs like Corpses In Regalia, The Chuckler, and My Children I was smitten. Every band that I have spoke with that has met them says they are one of the nicest bands... I completly agree!
A good friend Jam/Jam told me to check this album out so I did. At first I was very confused about why he was recommending this to me. I really disliked the vocals and at first the lyrics. But after a few songs in I started to get a much different feel and was enjoying the stories and music composition. It took a few more songs until it started to make sense, and took a few more plays of the album before it became a breath of fresh air to me.
Moon Duo's new album Occult Architecture Vol. 1 is a great album to clean or exercise to. Its very easy to just space out and enjoy the catchy tracks. The album lacks in dynamics, but you still feel you have been on a journey when your are finished with it. I know this write up is pretty terrible but I do enjoy this album quite a bit.
The new Dirty Projectors album is really good but it is also a lot of work to enjoy. The album is about a break up and it is very emotional and heartfelt. After listening few times I really want to finish a tub of ice cream wearing sweat pants while watching Netflix. I am not trying to be condescending of the album because the music is great, but It is definitely a "you gotta be in the mood to listen to this" type album.
The last I have listened to Immolation was in 1999 when I wore my CD of "Failures for Gods" out. This album is straight up death metal; The vocals do not change and the lyrics are pretty silly. HOWEVER, musically they are very technical and make it a really fun listen while driving in traffic. I am very impressed that this band still sounds the same after all these years and would love to see them in concert.
